my approach:

In the first session, my focus is on getting to know the client and seeing if we’re a good fit to work together. We’ll talk about what’s bringing them to therapy and explore some of the challenges they’d like to work on, but we won’t rush into setting concrete goals right away. Instead, I encourage clients to reflect on what led them here and what they hope to get out of therapy. I know that not everyone likes “homework,” and that’s completely okay. Rather than assigning big tasks, I prefer to suggest small, meaningful steps—whether it’s a behavioral shift or a moment of self-reflection—that we can unpack together in session. These goals are always tailored to what feels important and manageable for the client. Therapy isn’t about quick fixes. If overcoming social anxiety were as easy as “just put yourself out there,” no one would struggle with it. My job is to help clients see things from new perspectives, ask different questions, and take gradual steps toward meaningful change. Progress isn’t about perfection—it’s about making things feel a little easier and less overwhelming over time.

thoughts for new clients:

If you feel out of place in the world, you’re not alone. Society often presents a narrow vision of how people should be, and falling outside of that can be painful. But you have to stay true to yourself.

ABOUT ME:

I hold a Master’s in Social Work (MSW) and have worked across a range of environments, from the corporate world to freelance work, before finding my way to mental health work. My clinical approach is rooted in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)—evidence-based methods that help to break down overwhelming thoughts and to regulate stormy emotions. Through CBT, I help people identify and challenge unhelpful thought patterns, while DBT incorporates mindfulness and distress tolerance techniques to steady yourself in tough moments. I also have a systemic understanding of mental health—that is, I recognize that struggles with housing, legal issues, or work can deeply affect mental health. I will help you maximize whatever margin of freedom you can carve out.

I specialize in working with anxiety and depression. I also work with LGBTQ+ individuals, polyamorous relationships, and those navigating kink-positive spaces, ensuring therapy remains an affirming and nonjudgmental experience. I myself am bisexual, and polyamorous, and I have been involved with the kink community for many years.

Outside of therapy, I enjoy Dungeons & Dragons, video games, horror movies, reading the news, and drawing. My many interests inform my creative approach to therapy. I also incorporate humor into sessions, often in the form of dry wit, because I believe laughter can be a sign you’ve gotten over it.

My goal is to help people find meaning in their own way. It’s my job to help people both find their way and get out of their own way.
