ABOUT ME:
I have worked in the field of substance use since 2013. If there’s one perspective I’ve learned in this field: you don’t just “treat addiction,” you treat anxiety, depression, PTSD, loneliness, rage, despair, toxic secrets, regret, undiagnosed head trauma, untreated ADHD; then you realize substance use is often someone’s best attempt to cope when they don’t see other options. I am interested in hearing stories from people who do not feel like they fit in, whether it is because they are trauma survivors, people with mental illness, people of color, queer folks, or people whom have been historically marginalized; I also understand identifying as a trauma survivor can lead to additional marginalization.
I am trained in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy, substance use management/harm reduction, and motivational interviewing, among other skill sets. My therapy style is reflective, curious, warm, and attentive, and therapy thrives when clients bring more and more of their authentic selves to session. Meeting people where they are at with a judgment-free and authentic approach, I seek to create room for individuals and couples find new ways to achieve their goals and create insight into the challenges, barriers, and patterns of day-to-day living.
